Precious Play - Ongoing Graduation Project
Precious Play is a campaign designed to help parents who have preschool-aged children understand the importance of Guided Play and how it can strengthen parent-child relationships, enhance developmental growth, and promote positive parenting practices. This campaign uses a combination of social media, educational comics, and interactive prompt cards to support parents in engaging with their children in a meaningful, intentional, and fun way.
rationale
The reason why social media is aimed to be the main platform for this is because it’s currently of of the most popular platforms that almost everyone has access to, and it’s the most convenient, quick and cost-efficient way to spread information to a large audience. Comics and animations are being used as the main media type for this campaign because it provides good visual storytelling and is a more entertaining way to convey information to busy parents.
key concepts
Guided Play is a play-based learning approach that integrates playful activities with a parent’s guidance to promote positive parenting and enhance their children’s holistic development. The campaign’s goal is to provide parents with the tools and knowledge they need to facilitate learning through play, ensuring children’s holistic development while fostering stronger bonds between parents and children.
Prompt Cards
The Guided Play Prompt Cards are an interactive, educational tool designed to support positive parent-child bonding through the application of Guided Play. They provide easy-to-follow prompts, created to facilitate meaningful, everyday interactions that encourage parents to engage with their children in ways that promote their cognitive, emotional, and social development. The cards are simple yet powerful, designed to be used during common activities like playtime, mealtime, and bedtime. The ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between busy parents and quality time spent nurturing their child’s growth.
These cards feature the three distinct animal mascots: Monkey, Fox, and Penguin, each representing one of the core developmental skills. The Monkey symbolizes language & communication, the Fox stands for cognitive skills, and the Penguin represents social & emotional development. These mascots were chosen for their associations with family bonding, playfulness, and growth, and are designed in a gender-neutral style to appeal to both parents and children.
The cards are designed to be visually inviting with playful, vibrant colors that reflect the joy and creativity of Guided Play. Each card includes prompts that are easy to incorporate into daily routines, making them a practical resource for parents who struggle with busy schedules.
